It would be more accurate for Touch users if you were able to manually enter your latitude and longitude. Even better if you were able to point to your location on a map.

Manual input

This Sun Compass is great ! Please add a Manual entry when location services doesnt have a certain city or town. Manual entry for coordinates (latitude and longitude would be great making Sun Compass even greater !

Cant find North on iPad

Using it on iPad WiFi model. This app cant seem to find North, even though this model has compass chip.

Pretty confusing

A little documentation in the app might make it more useful. It does not point north and if you can get it set incredibly wrong. This could get you very lost.

Really disappointed - dont buy it until bugs are fixed

This app comes with no documentation and no means of manually setting latitude and longitude. There also seems to be a bug with the auto setting of latitude and longitude, which we cannot overide since manual setting is not possible. Because of this, the application is completely non-functional. It is broken. I hope the developers address these problems. I liked the concept of this app but it is not working now.

Great app

The internal compass is very unreliable which is why l like the compass. Using your location and the sun angle and the date time, it computes the north direction. It also can show what the internal compass says, but I dont find this works too well. Love the app. Got great response from the vendor when I had a question.

Good idea; poorly executed

I bought this application because I was hoping that it would actually work in helping me with determining the actual Suns location where I live as I am looking to track the daily rising and setting locations for eventual use in determining my houses suitability for a SDHW system; but as others have noted, it doesnt work. Specifically, the Magnetic and and True North calculations for my location (Victoria BC) are off by nearly 170°; beyond that, the Suns location is incorrect (the application has it being around NNE; but in reality, its NE or so (I havent taken out my Silva Ranger to actually test the exact degree)). So though I dont mind the $0.99 cost, I am disappointed that the development of the application seems to be lacking in quality. Have the issues fixed and I am more then happy to revise my review.

Good. Used to be free

Once this app was free. Its a good app but not worth the dollar. Im glad I downloaded it when it was free since its handy but never use it

Not worth a penny

I wouldnt pay a penny for this app, it doesnt even work. It may be only 99cent but its still a waste.

Neat and Professional Appearance

it is helpful and appears to be correct. it is difficult to use in the bright sunlight. it would also be nice if the compass could be used after sunset. but, that is a different algorithm.

Sun Compass

Nice looking app. Would be nice to get some info on how to operate it on an Ipod Touch. Each time you touch the screen after tapping Sun or North the compass twirls and points in any old direction.

good deal

im sailing a lot and on small boats i dont have a compass, so this one is very usefull!

shows potential

Sun Compass shows potential and works well in portrait mode. Its off by 90°, however, when using it in landscape orientation on an iPad with the built-in compass enabled.

Needs some work

I have the first version of the iphone - no gps and no magnetic compass built in, and an iPad which has gps and magnetic compass built in. For the iPad the compass seems to work (true north only) and the sun position seems to be ok if the latitude and longitude from the gps are current for the position. On the iPhone the sun position is never able to set the compass to anything close to the real direction. The app would need a position entered to do this, I think, but there is no way to do this. Also it would be great to have the option of true north versus magnetic north and some way to enter declination. Other sets of compass angles would would useful as well - 90 degree quadrants, 0 to 99 The idea is great just a little more work is needed.

need more information

I really like the look of this ap on my Ipod touch, but cant get any information from it. No latitude or longitude listing, so the sun just stays right next to N. Would really like more info on how to set it up on the Ipod Touch?

Not working

Before I had the previous version it worked. Now this one docent work it has a white circle.

WasIsntnow

I have been trying to get it to work again, but I either have an emty circle with a sun spot or a faded silver circle with barely visable hash lines. Mine doesnt look anything like the pic??????

NOT W O R K I N G

THIS APP IS A SCAM.********** NOT WORKING"""""""""""". DO NOT ATTEMP TO BUY THIS"""""""""*********

This application does not work!!!

Terrible waste of money.

Doesnt work on 3G

It doesnt work on 3G. The other review saying that "it finally works" should be taken out because it is misleading.
